The background to Crestwingens high absorber efficiency
Crestwing Wave Energy Converter (WEC) looks like a traditional floating concept; its basic structure is simple, consisting of two flat floats hinged together. Through a power take off system (PTO) the relative motion between the two floats is utilized into production of electricity.
In the following illustration of the WEC's operation is it only during phase 3 and 4 the energy is produced. This is in contrast to traditional floating concepts, where both upward and downward movement utilized, which is part of the background for Crestwing´s high efficiency.
